How You Can Make CBD Infused Wine

cbd ediblesIt seems like cannabidiol or CBD as it is more commonly known is being infused into just about every food product. From standard CBD edibles such as gummies, brownies, and cookies to sauces and other food products, CBD seems to be everywhere. And now that includes CBD wine which is becoming quite popular.

What is CBD Wine?
It may sound a little difficult to believe, but CBD wine has been around for thousands of years. This is because many ancient peoples would infuse the wine with weeds which contained among other things cannabidiol. If you have heard of mulled wine, then it is a popular wine in Europe that contains many ingredients which may include CBD. Wine infused with cannabidiol has a different taste compared to standard wines with alcohol. But this is to be expected since there are new ingredients being added. So, it is not surprising that you can find cannabis wines that have THC, CBD, or both being marketing across the country.

While there are restrictions to wines with THC, such restrictions are fewer with CBD. This is because CBD does not contain the psychotropic compound that creates feelings of euphoria. However, it should be noted that CBD is still not fully legal in all 50 states, so you will need to check with your local and state regulations.

How to Add CBD to Wine
There are several ways you can add CBD to the wine that you serve. Each method has its own benefits and drawbacks, but it can be done relatively easily.

cbd wineWater-Soluble CBD: You’ll want to find a water-soluble version of CBD and not the oil if possible. This is because the oil may alter the taste considerably and may not be to your liking. Plus, oil and wine just like water may not mix correctly which leaves you with the wine on top and the CBD oil on the bottom.Water soluble CBD will dissolve in wine quickly and easily. It should mix well with the wine and leave little to no aftertaste.

Cannabis Infusion: This is arguably the most common means of introducing CBD. Just remember that it will also infuse THC as well. The most common form of cannabis infusion is using a strainer such as a cheesecloth or tea bag. Simply wrapping the cannabis inside a tea bag and placing it in the wine will allow the THC and CBD to flow into the product while keeping the larger pieces from getting into the wine itself.

Keep in mind with some boiling methods you may need to decarb the weed first to ensure that the CBD and THC flow freely from it.

With a little care, you can create CBD wine for your needs. Just remember that unlike most CBD edibles, wine contains alcohol may increase some of the effects from cannabidiol. So, you may need to be careful when creating your own CBD wine.
